Joan Blondell in Gold Diggers of 1933 (1933)
This final number is like a slap in the face - a harsh return to reality. That was a fun, cute movie, wasn’t it? Well guess what, there’s a depression going on and men gave their lives in the war for nothing. There’s nothing fun about that.
This movie is so ground-breaking and so HONEST. 80 years later, and the Forgotten Man number still sends chills down your spine.
